Peter Stanton | S​ports Physiotherapist

 

Sports Physiotherapist Peter Stanton has gained considerable experience working with athletes and teams over many years, and now enjoys providing an ‘overcoming dysfunction’ approach via SSSP to people of all levels of activity.

Peter spent 10 years working at the AIS in Canberra, and among other things has provided sports physiotherapy services with Australian Teams at 3 Olympic Games, 3 World Athletics Championships, 2 Commonwealth Games, 2 World Triathlon Championships, and 2 World University Games along with touring internationally with Athletics, Triathlon, Cycling, Basketball, and Netball.
 

On the home front Peter took on the role of Medical and Performance Coordinator at The Brisbane Lions AFL team in 1999, coached by Leigh Matthews, setting up a medical support team that helped the players manage and prevent injuries during the historic ‘three-peat’ premierships (2001-2003), leaving the Lions after the 2006 season.



​Peter has also worked nationally with The National Basketball League (6 years), coordinated the physiotherapy services for both Athletics Australia (5 years) and Triathlon Australia (3 years).

 

He is currently enjoying regaining some family time and setting up a specialty physiotherapy practice after spending 2 years as Head of Sports and Sports Medicine at Geelong Cats AFL Club.

Peter has also lectured both nationally and internationally on many aspects of injury analysis and treatment.
